Significance
Baisakhi marks the harvest festival of Punjab and the Sikh New Year. It also commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.
Mythology & Legend
For Sikhs, Baisakhi is the day when Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib. For Hindus, it marks the Sun's entry into Mesha (Aries) and the harvest of rabi crops. The day is celebrated with dance (Bhangra, Gidda) and community feasts.
