Significance
Putrada Ekadashi is observed for the desire of a son or for the welfare of children. It falls in Pausha Shukla Ekadashi (North) and in Shravan in some regions.
Mythology & Legend
According to the Padma Purana, King Suketuman and his wife observed this vrat and were blessed with a son. The vrat is especially significant for couples seeking progeny. It is also observed for the long life and prosperity of existing children.
Rituals & Observances
- Observe Ekadashi fast; bathe at sunrise.
- Offer puja to Lord Vishnu with tulsi, flowers, and fruits.
- Chant Vishnu mantras; pray for children or their welfare.
- Break the fast on Dwadashi after offering puja.
