Significance
Shankaracharya Jayanti marks the birth of Adi Shankaracharya, the philosopher who consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta. It is observed on Vaisakha Shukla Panchami.
Mythology & Legend
According to the Shankara Vijayam, Shankara was born in Kaladi (Kerala) and became a sannyasi at a young age. He travelled across India, debated scholars, established four mathas (Jyotir, Sringeri, Dwaraka, Puri), and wrote commentaries on the Brahma Sutras, Upanishads, and Bhagavad Gita.

- At sunrise, take a bath and offer puja to Shiva (Shankara's ishta).
- Read or listen to Shankara's works (e.g. Bhaja Govindam, Vivekachudamani).
- Visit a Shankara matha or temple; meditate on Advaita.
- Donate to scholars or monasteries; observe a sattvic diet.
