Significance
Parsva Ekadashi (also Parshva or Parivartini) falls in Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi. Lord Vishnu is believed to turn in his sleep on this day. Fasting is observed for prosperity.
Mythology & Legend
According to the Skanda Purana, Vishnu turns from one side to the other on this night. The vrat is observed to please him and gain his blessings. It is also associated with the change of the rainy season.
Rituals & Observances
- Observe Ekadashi fast; bathe at sunrise.
- Offer tulsi, flowers, and fruits to Lord Vishnu.
- Chant Vishnu mantras; keep a vigil at night if possible.
- Break the fast on Dwadashi after puja.
