Chaturdashi is the fourteenth lunar day, ruled by Rudra. Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi hosts Maha Shivaratri — the greatest night of Shiva. Each month's Krishna Chaturdashi is observed as Masik Shivaratri. Generally inauspicious for worldly undertakings but highly powerful for penance and spiritual practice.
