Significance
Vijaya Ekadashi falls in Phalgun Krishna Paksha. It is believed that Lord Rama observed this vrat before crossing the ocean to Lanka. It grants victory over obstacles.
Mythology & Legend
According to the Padma Purana, Sage Bakadalbhya told Rama to observe this Ekadashi to cross the ocean and defeat Ravana. Rama did so and achieved victory. Hence the name Vijaya (victory).
Rituals & Observances
- Observe Ekadashi fast; bathe at sunrise.
- Offer puja to Lord Rama/Vishnu with tulsi and flowers.
- Chant Rama mantras or Vishnu Sahasranama.
- Break the fast on Dwadashi after sunrise and puja.
